There are a number of ways to install or configure home assistant. Generally this will be run on its own dedicated hardware like a raspberry pi. In my case I'm assuming you are setting up home assistant on a home server that already has docker installed.
Default Port
8123
Basic
run home assistant core in a docker container.
Advanced (Supervisor)
allows you to install additional addons and is only recommended if you want to use voice assistant features. All the other addons can be installed through docker but I had a hard time getting openwakeword and assistant mic.
Install Dependencies
apt install \ apparmor \ bluez \ cifs-utils \ curl \ dbus \ jq \ libglib2.0-bin \ lsb-release \ network-manager \ nfs-common \ systemd-journal-remote \ systemd-resolved \ udisks2 \ wget -y
Install OS Agent
wget https://github.com/home-assistant/os-agent/releases/latest/download/os-agent_1.6.0_linux_x86_64.deb apt install ./os-agent_1.6.0_linux_x86_64.deb
Install Homeassistant
wget https://github.com/home-assistant/supervised-installer/releases/latest/download/homeassistant-supervised.deb apt install ./homeassistant-supervised.deb
